Meet the Staff

Debbie Clark, K2 teacher, Co-Director

Debbie has been in the childcare field for almost 15 years, the majority of which she spent running a successful state licensed daycare out of her home in Brentwood, New Hampshire. She holds a BS in Theory of Teaching from the University of New Hampshire and is currently working toward her CDA. Debbie began teaching at Cross Road in January 2011. She has been married to her husband, Andy, for 23 years and has two daughters, Ashley (21) and Kirstie (19.) She and her husband spend their time gardening, watching their two daughters play softball at Keene State and Rivier College and taking care of their many pets: two dogs, Bruschi and Ringo, ten ducks, three cats and two rabbits.  Debbie loves working with children because of the personal satisfaction she gets from knowing that she can make a difference in a child’s life.

Beth Brooker, Infant Teacher

Beth received her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Valley Forge Christian College in 1998 and has been working with children for the past 20 years. In that time, she has worked in the educational field as an infant teacher, a toddler teacher, a K-8 substitute teacher, & finally a director of a small childcare center.  Her first love has always been the babies, which says she’s thrilled to be given the opportunity to care for the infants here at Cross Road Children’s Center. Beth has been married to her husband, Jeff, for 16 years and has two daughters, Faith and Christa, ages 11 and 9. Beth also has two Boston Terriers named Gabe & Abby.

Samantha Howie, 1 Yr Teacher

Sam has been in the childcare field for 10 years. She attended college for Early Childhood Education and is currently continuing her education at Granite State College. Sam says she looks forward to each day she gets to work with children. “It is such a fun and rewarding experience. When a child greets me with a big hug, I know I am doing my job right.” When she’s not at Cross Road, Sam loves to knit, craft, scrapbook and have fun in the great outdoors. She’s also part of a roller derby team! She lives with her fiancé, Jim, and her dog, Cammi.

Catrina Barb, Preschool Teacher

Catrina earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from Boston College in 2008 and has worked with children of all ages as a pre-K teacher, kindergarten teacher and a nanny. She started at Cross Road as our K-3 preschool teacher in November 2011. In her spare time, Catrina loves to cook, dance and do volunteer work. She speaks Italian and has lived in Rome. Catrina now lives in Dover with her fiancé, Phil, and their dog, Luigi. Miss Catrina says she loves the energy that children have and thinks it is amazing to see them learn about the world around them.

Joel Edgar, Preschool Teacher

Joel has been teaching since 2002. He began here at Cross Road, then moved south for two years to help Rachel and Dan (Joel’s sister and brother-in-law) open their school in Florida. Joel is currently attending Granite State College to receive his Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Outside of school, Joel sings and plays guitar in his band, A Fire Anthem. He loves listening to live music and his iPod is never far. Joel feels that teaching is a very rewarding profession; he says it’s a great way to make a difference in children’s lives.

Rachel McIntyre, Owner/Director

Rachel has worked in the field of early childhood in both Florida and New Hampshire for fifteen years.  She holds a Master's degree in Early Childhood and is currently working toward her third degree in the field.  Rachel also serves as an accreditation consultant and validator for the National Association of Child Care Professionals.  Cross Road is a family business, for Rachel, begun in 1995 by her mother and father, Paul & Susan Edgar.  Rachel has been married to her husband Dan for fourteen years, and they have five children between the ages of thirteen and four. The family also has two energetic Labrador Retrievers, Twi and Jake.  Outside of school, Rachel enjoys time with her family, swimming, attending soccer and basketball games, running, crossfit, and sometimes reading or crafting.  Rachel's passion for the field of early childhood education stems from her belief that all children need a warm, loving environment where they can explore, discover and learn.
